Introspection #4

Who said growing up was going to be easy.

Being parents, all they ever want is us to be happy no matter what. They thought they were there with us in the wicked world as we grew up.

I grew up. Went away from home. Far away. When I said I have had my lunch, my Mom couldn't see that I had Maggi for lunch. Growing up is not learning to eat by myself. Growing up is telling that lie which will keep my Mom less worried about me.

Growing up, as we learnt being a kid, isn't to learn to walk or run or ride a cycle or travelling to tuitions alone. Growing up is to learn how to walk on a dark path with a stranger and yet not get harmed,

Growing up never meant to be able o make your parents understand what you want. Growing up is actually to understand your parents. What they feel about you and how worried they are about you all the time.

Growing up was never that stupid promotion from grade one to grade two, or from the junior school to high school. Growing up is now. As you jump from a phase in life to another one. It is to learn to tackle the transition that comes into your life when you stop belonging to an institution and start being a part of an organisation. It is about learning to take care of your own shit not because nobody is there to help you but because everyone has their own shit to clean.

Growing up is to understand the meaning and purpose of your existence and to see beyond the years to come. Grow up as in be a better person who can take responsibility as a human, and not as a girl or boy or husband or wife or mother or father.

As a kid, it was very difficult to say goodbye to the people close to me. I could only imagine bidding goodbye to come back home. As we grow, we learn to say our goodbyes to people who leave us by choice or not. Growing up is to learn to bid goodbyes to people whom we can never forget. It is also to learn to say our goodbyes with a smile no matter how rude or harsh the stranger has been.

Nobody can grow enough to stop growing. One grows enough only when its time to move on to a new life in a new body.
