Wheeling Up!!

                   A fully packed up bus with no space to move. One can stand without holding on to nothing and still stand straight because of the absence of even a fraction of space to move!! I was on my way to my tuition and didn't have any other option because I was already late. Annoyed by the packed up bus and the traffic blockage, I looked out the window and couldn't help without smiling to myself. What I saw was that a woman rode past on a bike. Its not the first time I saw such a thing but there was a difference! I had previously seen young girls ride on bikes but saw a married woman riding a bike for the first time and it really makes me proud to see something like that!! I mean, thought Kolkata is a metropolitan city but such a scene is very rare and its not just a scene!! Its the example of the evolution of the culture and tradition of the people and that too, an evolution for the betterment. The way women are advancing, breaking all barriers and superstitions is really wonderful and it is something of which all women would feel proud about. Women are working and advancing in all fields, all right, but a woman or a girl riding a bike is still not too casual a scene or people don't react casually to it!! For example, then only, two men sitting in the bus were awestruck to see the woman and they literally sat up and were asking each other to look at that woman riding a bike!! I'm sure, no matter how advanced or trendy or casual people show themselves to be, still most of the people can't accept this change from within and if not publicly, definitely they take some time to gather themselves together after seeing a woman ride past them on a bike!! And after smiling to that, I had a laugh also seeing the reaction of the men!! Seriously! Those drowsy men were given quite a shake by a woman on wheels rather than the sudden and intense jerks of the brakes!!
