And last night was a perfect example of why I never give up my hopes. Even after people break my expectations brutally so many times! Even when I am living in this world where the results of as small an election of a college to as big an election of choosing the governing body of a whole nation is a set up. I have my hopes high when I dream of creating an utopia which might have just a handful of people but they will at least have their souls alive.
I feel faith breathing inside me when I hope that one day there will be numerous me-s pressing the NOTA button until and unless they have an uncorrupted volunteer standing on the podium promising nothing fake.
I abuse the men with dirty minds right on their faces with the hope that some day, the society will be cleansed of such people. Someday, women will get the respect they rightly deserve.
All these hopes are still alive in me only because I know a few people who deserve to be born on this Earth over and over again. They know they are good people and yet they have no pride about it. And in this list, I want to add a person I met last night.
I got over with my internship at 7:50 P.M. last night. As soon as I reached the bus stand I got an A.C. shuttle car. I tried to get in the front seat but a fat guy pushed and made his way in there first. Another fat guy pushed and made his way before me into the back. I got in second and third was a lean guy. So, YEAH. I WAS sandwich-ed between two fat guys at the back of the car and nobody in this wonderful world would like to let a girl sit at comfort at a situation like this. U know what I mean, right?!
I just leaned forward and sat like that because after a long day, I had no energy left to shout at those dickheads. I wanted to enjoy the A.C. and the feeling that I am going home after a long day's work! After around 10 minutes, the driver looked at me with big eyes and asked "Aapnar ki boshte oshubidhe hoche?"
I said, "Haan, oshubidhe toh hoche."
Then he asked the fat guy beside him to shift to the back and let me sit in the front. And that fat guy obviously Didn't want to let go of the comfort so he started giving excuses and asked the two guys at the back to shift a little and make some more space. Then the driver told the guy beside him,"Apni pichhone na gele neme jaan. Meye ta ke shamne aste din. Eibhabe toh meye ta etodur jete parena. Ki bolbo apnake ar!"
The fat guy was taken aback and was still shouting while opening the door when the driver said, "Apnar bon o toh hote parto ota!"
The fat guy had nothing more to say.
It was a night when I heard back from my faith. Hope talked back to me that there ARE nice people in this world and though they struggle to survive, they do succeed. This is not the only time. There was a time in Bangalore when I had asked an auto driver "Kitna loge bhaiya?" And he replied, "Meter pe jayenge."
It's not about any particular place or language, it is about the human kind. Some bodies still have the soul alive.
